“R. Laporta” Institute, Education has its sights on the future

Twenty-one italian students, aged between 14 and 17, have been selected to take part in an innovative training programme dedicated to green jobs, with the aim of developing skills related to environmental sustainability that will support their career orientation.

The training, which began on 18 January 2025, was made possible thanks to the collaboration between the partner EGInA and the teachers of the Laporta Institute. The core of the activities focused on the ten Eco-Jobs professional profiles — emerging roles at the European level within the context of ecological transition. The course was based on active teaching methodologies, with extensive use of innovative approaches such as challenge-based Learning Scenarios.

From an educational standpoint, this methodology encouraged active and meaningful learning, enhancing transversal skills such as critical thinking, creativity, independence, and language abilities, thanks to the practical use of foreign languages in authentic contexts. Professionally, it simulated real working dynamics, developing digital skills, teamwork abilities, project management, and adaptability to intercultural environments. Furthermore, the social and intercultural dimension promoted collaboration, respect for differences, effective communication, and a sense of active citizenship, preparing students to thrive in an increasingly global and interconnected society.

The project also represented a significant opportunity for growth for the teachers involved, who were able to experiment with innovative approaches, strengthen their methodological skills, and reflect on teaching practices aimed at developing green competences. The Eco-Jobs profiles proved to be effective tools for professional development, capable of bridging the gap between the educational and professional worlds.

At the end of the training programme, in mid-May, the students will travel to Berlin to take part in an international mobility experience. During their stay, they will visit companies, associations, and other pioneering organisations supporting the ecological transition, in line with the principles of the New European Bauhaus. The experience will also serve as a valuable opportunity to begin concrete collaboration with Greek and Spanish peers, laying the foundations for future activities.
