Empowering Future-Proof Skills: DIMITRA’s Training Initiatives for the Green Economy in Larissa and Volos

As Europe moves decisively toward a greener and more sustainable future, the demand for a workforce equipped with ecological awareness, interdisciplinary skills, and innovative thinking is growing. The ECO-JOBS Erasmus+ project addresses this shift by preparing learners for emerging roles in the green economy—and DIMITRA Education & Consulting is proud to deliver this vision through targeted training initiatives in Larissa and Volos.

Between April and May 2025, DIMITRA implemented a 20-hour student training programme, structured into four intensive sessions of five hours each. The programme was delivered to over 40 students in Vocational Education and Training (VET), following the official structure and methodology developed by the ECO-JOBS project.

The training focused exclusively on the ten ECO-JOBS professional profiles, which represent innovative and socially impactful roles grounded in the values of the New European Bauhaus—sustainability, inclusion, and aesthetics. These profiles include, among others, the Urban Farmer, Biotextile Engineer, Stormwater Manager, and Immersive Recycling Experience Designer. Each session introduced and explored several of these profiles through videos, worksheets, and open educational resources, enabling students to gain a deep understanding of the responsibilities, required skills, and potential impact of each role. The full set of profiles is available at: https://www.ecojobsproject.eu/media/useful-materials/

In addition to gaining familiarity with the profiles, students developed essential soft and hard skills for the green labor market and engaged in completing learning scenarios based on realistic eco-social challenges. These activities required them to work in teams, reflect critically on environmental and societal issues, and co-design sustainable and inclusive solutions. The sessions were hands-on, interactive, and well-received by the students, many of whom found the training both eye-opening and empowering.

“I had no idea sustainability could be so creative,” said a student from Volos. “It helped me see that I can really be part of this change,” shared another participant from Larissa. This enthusiasm reflects the heart of the ECO-JOBS project—not just to prepare students for future jobs, but to inspire them to become active agents of change within their communities.

At DIMITRA, we are committed to shaping a new generation of skilled, conscious, and empowered professionals who are ready to lead Europe’s green transformation—not just with knowledge, but with purpose.
