Preparing Teachers in Umbria for the Training on the ECO-JOBS Approach

As part of the ECO-JOBS project, EGInA, acting as the VET partner in Italy, has been actively preparing to deliver high-quality training to 20 students from two schools in the Umbria region: I.O. Cerreto-Sellano and I.O.R. La Porta. The initiative focused on equipping teachers with the necessary tools, methodologies, and content to effectively implement the ECO-JOBS learning model.

The training of VET partners focused on:

  • Gaining a comprehensive understanding of the ECO-JOBS framework, including the 10 innovative green job profiles developed by the project.
  • Integrating soft and hard skills related to sustainability, critical and systemic thinking, project management, and many others into the training content.
  • Utilizing learning scenarios designed to engage students in real-world sustainability challenges and to help them apply theoretical knowledge in practice.
  • Promoting participatory and experiential learning, encouraging active student engagement, debate, and teamwork.

During the preparation phase, all Open Educational Resources (OERs) created for the 10 ECO-JOBS profiles were thoroughly reviewed and discussed with teachers. These resources—freely available on the official website www.ecojobsproject.eu—include interactive learning scenarios, YouTube videos, downloadable PDF articles, and external links that support the development of green, soft, and technical competencies. Teachers also examined the CVs developed for each profile and received guidelines on how to implement the materials through practical classroom activities.

The complete training on the ECO-JOBS approach is structured to last 20 hours, ensuring that educators are confident and well-prepared to adapt the content to their classroom settings.

This effort marks a key step in empowering 20 young learners to explore career opportunities in the green and sustainable professions and to reflect on their role in building more resilient and inclusive communities.
